A functional endophenotype for sexual orientation in humans reports a functional magnetic resonance imaging study. With hetero- and homosexual men and women viewing visual sexual stimuli consisting of photographs of naked male and female trunks as well as nonsexual visual stimuli.

  1. It is not clear how the statistical threshold was set: first it is written that p<0.05 is used with correction for multiple non-independent comparisons (which comparisons are not mentioned: clusters? voxels?) In the same paragraph it is written that a uncorrected cluster level on P<0.01 was used.
  2. Small volume correction are used for some of the regions: Centromedian thalamus and adjacent ventral striatum, orbitofrontal cortex and the ventral premotor cortex.
  3. What is the unit of "cluster extent"? The number of voxels probably.
  4. Figues 2B and 3B seem to be biased post hoc plots.
