A positron emission tomography study of the short-term maintenance of verbal information reports a positron emission tomography study.

Group 1 of 12 right-handed healthy volunteers with 1 males and 11 females were included in the study. The American group had a mean age of 24 with a range from 19 to 37. The study on the human subjects was approved by the Human Studies and the Radioactive Drug Research committees of Washington University.

Using the radiotracer Oxygen-15-Water PET scans were acquired with a PETT VI.

The scanning results in 36 times 6 difference images (page 810, column 1)

  • 12 subjects
  • Each subjects scanned 3 times per task conditions
  • 3 maintenance versus fixation task + 3 silent counting versus fixation task
