Association between novelty seeking of opiate-dependent patients and the catechol-O-methyltransferase val158met polymorphism is a personality genetics and a genetic association study on the COMT val158met genetic polymorphism and personality traits assessed with the Temperament and Character Inventory in heroin-dependent patients and healthy controls.

The results show that heroin-dependent subjects to have quite higher novelty seeking and harm avoidance scores on average and lower reward dependence and persistence scores

[edit] Subjects

Subject group #1 (help)
Hungarian heroin-dependent patients
Subjects/♂/♀: 117 / 82 / 35
Age: 27.4 ±3.7 (–)

Approval: Hungarian National Ethical Committee
Databases:

Group 1 of 117 hungarian heroin-dependent patients with 82 males and 35 females were included in the study. The Hungarian group had a mean age of 27.4.

The study on the human subjects was approved by the Hungarian National Ethical Committee.
