Group 1 of 16 participants with 6 males and 10 females were included in the study. The American group was from 18 up to 50 years old. The study on the human subjects was approved by the Washington University Medical School Human Studies Committee. 19 subjects were recruited, but 3 were discarded.

The results are based on a threshold so z>5.69 corresponding to p<0.05 with Bonferroni correction for multiple comparison and Box correction for correlated predictor variables citing a chapter by Ollinger in Functional mapping of the human brain.

The brain template for "Talairach" normalization was "to an MP-RAGE atlas target image based on 12 normal adults" (page 654).
