Neural correlates of anxiety in healthy volunteers: a voxel-based morphometry study reports a personality neuroimaging study with magnetic resonance imaging and voxel-based morphometry and behaviour measures of anxiety.

Anxiety was quantified with State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) with the participants completing state (STAI-S) and trait (STAI-T) measures before scanning.

Group 1 of 30 right-handed healthy with 16 males and 14 females were included in the study. The group had a mean age of 28. The study on the human subjects was approved by the Institutional review board. The participants had no history of alcohol abuse or drug abuse, had no neurological disorder or psychiatric disorder, and had no brain injury.

[edit] Results

An uncorrected significance threshold on <0.001 was used and with a extent threshold on 50 voxels (page 201, column 1). The subjects were normalized to a study specific template that was constructed by nornalizing to a MNI template. The results reported are a conjunction analysis.

  1. The p-values are not corrected for multiple comparisons.
  2. A threshold on cluster size was used on 50 voxels.
