Premotor area

Lennart Heimer regards the supplementary motor area and the cingulate motor area as parts of the premotor area, and that the "premotor cortical areas" includes premotor cortex (on the lateral aspect) and supplementary motor area (on the medial aspect).[1] Thus it seems that he regards premotor area ("premotor cortical areas") and premotor cortex as not equivalent!

NCBI defines premotor cortex as "Motor association areas in the frontal lobe anterior to primary motor cortex; thought to be involved in planning or programming of voluntary movements."[2]
