Similarity and disparity of obsessive-compulsive disorder and schizophrenia in MR volumetric abnormalities of the hippocampus-amygdala complex reports a structural neuroimaging study on the brain volume of patient with either obsessive-compulsive disorder or schizophrenia against normal controls using magnetic resonance imaging.

Brain volume results are reported for intracranial volume and left hippocampus, right hippocampus, left amygdala, right amygdala, left thalamus and right thalamus Results for total volume are not given for these three brain regions.

[edit] Discussion

The result for amygdala, particularly the right amygdala, has the opposite direction of the results reported in Orbital frontal and amygdala volume reductions in obsessive-compulsive disorder.
