The neural correlates of maternal and romantic love reports a functional magnetic resonance imaging study of maternal love where mothers were scanned while they viewed photographs of their own child, another acquinted child, of their best friend and of another person their were acquinted with.

Group 1 of 20 mothers with 0 males and 20 females were included in the study. The group had a mean age of 34.0 with a range from 27 to 49.
SPM99 was used for the processing and analysis with the spatial normalization using the SPM EPI MNI template (page 1156) and the statistical threshold set on <0.001 uncorrected (Z > 3.61).
