Variable number of tandem repeats (VNTR) is a genetic polymorphism were a region of the DNA may vary in repeats across subjects.

Some of the studied VNTR are:

  1. DRD4 48-bp VNTR, varies between 2 to 11 tandem repeats with 2, 4 and 7 the most frequent.
  2. MAOA-uVNTR, 3 and 4 repeats are the most common, 2 and 5 also occurs.
  3. STin2 in the serotonin transporter gene
